Much of my work is fairly rambunctious, loud, flashy, demanding attention, kinda like punk rock. The Color Study series is more contemplative, reflective, maybe even introspective. And ya can’t listen to punk rock all the time!
Kit Schulte is pleased to announce Thirteen Uneasy Pieces, an exhibition of recent wall sculptures by Los Angeles-based artist David Buckingham, co-hosted by Collection Dirk Lehr.
Metal found in abandoned factories and giant junk yards in the California deserts around Los Angeles, are the raw materials for Buckingham’s sculpture. He finds, cuts, assembles, drills and welds the metal in unlikely juxtapositions using brains, brawn, and a vibrant artistic sensibility. The resulting work—famous lines from movies or songs, word plays and quotes and abstract color studies resonate with ideas of cultural significance and formal beauty.
