MARKET TOUR + COOKING CLASS + LUNCH

--the ultimate culinary experience in Berlin--
Explore Germany’s rich culinary heritage of seasonal and regional vegetable, fish and meat dishes, and fruit desserts, while learning about herbs, their healing powers, and the century-old tradition of organic gardening.
What you get

Market tours and classes are either Wednesdays or Saturdays and conducted in small groups. We meet in the morning (8:30 or 9:00 on Wednesdays and 8:00 or 8:30 on Saturdays) at the main entrance of the St. Matthias church in Schöneberg.

While we shop together for the ingredients for a specific German dish of the season, I will guide you through aspects of German food culture, seasonal customs, and organic farming.

Walking to my home, we will stop at wonderful specialty shops, including chocolate and wine. Then, together we will cook a typical seasonal three or four-course menu and discover a healthy and delicious German cuisine with regional nuances.

The afternoon culminates in enjoying our home-cooked meal with beer and wine available. Both tours end around 2 pm.

First off Kit was an amazing host and incredibly easy to get along with. The tour of the market was great and at a great pace. We had a chance to stop by stalls we found interesting while also working with some of her preferred vendors. On the walk home, we learned a bit about the area and even a little taste of urban foraging. Kit's kitchen is great and feels like you are cooking at home. My wife and I enjoyed this class and I have already recommended this to multiple people visiting Berlin in months to come.

Good to know
  • Dishes are not announced prior, as we’ll only use fresh and seasonal products. We use the produce that the season offers.
  • All produce and meat are high-quality and regional, and to our best knowledge, either organic or from sustainable farms.
  • Fish is mostly regional and from the North Sea or neighboring northern regions like the Nordic Sea or the North Atlantic.
  • You won’t miss out if you’re vegetarian because there are always plenty of vegetarian options. Please inform me via email so I can plan.
  • If you have food allergies, it is your responsibility to communicate this upfront via email, and I will try my best to work around it.
  • If you have a gluten intolerance, please know that even though bread is a staple in Germany, we won't eat a lot of it at lunch.
  • The cooking class does NOT teach professional techniques. Basic cooking skills are preferred but not a must-have.
